PINTO A Team takes Second at Sectional

The Pinto A team battled back through the loser's bracket, and beat the winner in the first of two games for the Sectional Championship. But a very talented San Jose PAL team won the second game to seal first place for themselves.

MUSTANG A Team takes Third Place at Sectional

The Mustang A team was very competitive in the Sectional tournament, but lost to Blossom Valley #1 just one game short of the title game.

BRONCO A Team takes Second Place at Sectional

The Bronco A team also battled through the loser's bracket to challenge BV #1 for the Sectional title, but BV held them off.

PONY A Team takes Second at Sectional

The Pony A team lost to Santa Clara, the Sectional champions in the Sectional tournament.

Tuesday, June 10th – Morgan Hill, CA             Morgan Hill 15, Fremont 0
Morgan Hill’s Mustang “A” Team once again took the field vs. Fremont in All Star/Sectional play at Britton School.
Ethan Cox pitched 4 dominant innings for Morgan Hill as the “A” team defeated Fremont 15-0. Cox allowed no runs while striking out 8 Fremont batters.
As has been the case in most of Morgan Hill’s victories, the offense was led by Mark Quinby with a pair of booming RBI doubles.     Brad Higgins, Pat Muller, and Alejandro Torres also added some key hits for Morgan Hill as they dominated the team from Fremont.
 
Sunday, June 8th – Morgan Hill, CA               BV #1  7, Morgan Hill 4
In round two, Morgan lost a very competitive game to  Blossom Valley # 1.
Taking advantage of some timely Morgan Hill mis-cues, combined with several walks, BV scored early and often taking  a 6 -0 lead through two innings.     
However, MH refused to quit, scoring four runs in the fifth inning.     
Timely hits by Patrick Muller and Ryan Quadros along with some aggressive base running by Ian McGowen and Ethan Cox,  got MH back into the game. Alejandro Torres and Josh Alaniz pitched three strong innings holding BV to only one more run.
 In the end, the come-back fell short with BV prevailing 7-4.
 
Saturday, June 7th – Morgan Hill, CA               Morgan Hill 13, Fremont 3
Behind the solid pitching of Ben Hughes and Mike Porras, the Morgan Hill Mustang “A” defeated Fremont 13-3 in first round Sectional Play at Britton School.
Hughes struck-out 7 batters in three innings and got the victory for Morgan Hill. Porras pitched the last two innings striking-out four.
The offensive attack was led by Mark Quinby, Brad Higgins, and Cole Campi. Quinby had two hits and drove in three runs, Campi had two hits and scored twice, while Higgins reached base in all three plate appearances and scored three times.

 

MUSTANG 9 Year Olds win the Stars and Stripes Tournament

June 30 - July 2nd - Sunnyvale, CA

Morgan Hill Pony Baseball 9 Year Old All Star team participated in the 2007 Nor Cal Travel Ball Stars & Stripes youth baseball tournament June 30th – July 2nd. The team made up of South County 9 year olds went through the tournament with an undefeated record 5-0, winning the championship game under the lights @ Twin Creeks sports complex 12-6 vs a very scrappy Tera Hills team. The 5 game round robin tournament was a first for the young Morgan Hill team. They found success through great hitting, good pitching and outstanding defense. Pitching was led by Justin Baker, Evan Richardson and Evan Dean. Outstanding hitting and defensive plays were made by many, Kevin Oneyejekwe, Richard Geraffo, Evan Lindeman, Adam Jennings, Luke Newquist, Jaxson Sawyer & Michael Hoskins all contributed in each win.  All twelve players contributed to the Morgan Hill team 5 game run average of 14 runs per game. However two big sluggers, Anthony Saso and Mikey Williams, lead the team in batting averages. Saso was named Outstanding Player for the 9 and Under division. He had a batting average of .929. The coaching staff Mark Dean, Dan Jennings, Mark Lindeman, Erik Newquist and Mike Hoskins are extremely proud of these kids and are honored to be part of their success.

Next up for this young group of boys is the Pony Baseball sectional tournament held July 7-14 @ Britton Middle school.

 

PONY A TAKES CLAYTON VALLEY TOURNAMENT

Pony A Team wins Clayton Valley Firecracker Tournament

July 1, 2007 - The Morgan Hill All Star Pony A Team won the Clayton Valley Firecracker Tournament.  In this pre-All Star tournament, Morgan Hill Pony A went 3-0 at Clayton Valley. During the tournament, they won with great defense and offensive play. 

Big hitters on the offensive side were Max Crowley batting 800, Cody Goslin batting 750 (including 2 perfect bunts), Marc Rauschnot batting 714 (including 2 doubles), and Aaron Wallace batting 714 (including a double).  Other key offensive contributors were Brett Full with 2 triples and a double, and Kolby Rousseu with a home run, double, and 9 RBI’s.

Strong defense during the tournament kept the opposition with little chance at scoring many runs.  Key contributors were Michael Garrett, David Rotter, Nick Pusateri, and Brody Christman.  Brett Newton was solid behind the plate as catcher for all 3 games. Richie Martinez and Brett Fuller closed down the last 2 games pitching for the wins.

Morgan Hill Pony A team will start All Star play on July 13, in Los Gatos.  Their pre- All Star record is currently 10-1 in tournament play.
