While there is
time...
November 15th, 2007 - At this time of year, our thoughts
turn to the holidays. Our children have settled into the
groove at school, and fall sports are coming to a close.
Baseball is not on the "short list".
But this is just the time for your
players to take inventory on their skills and decide how to
prepare for spring baseball. Conditioning programs take
weeks before the benefits are noticeable. Players should
take a moment to review how they finished their last season,
and what skills they would like to improve. Should they work
on throwing? Pay a visit to the batting cages? Maybe go to
the park and shag a few fly balls?
Depending on what they come up with,
taking a few lessons can help you pick up techniques and
drills that you can take home and repeat until "muscle
memory" takes over. Starting a conditioning schedule
can increase arm or leg strength. A lot of baseball players dislike
running, but to get to the next level, they will need to
overcome that bias. Jogging can provide overall
conditioning, and sprint drills will give them an edge
beating the throws to first, and stealing the next base.
Taking the time to prepare now will make
the spring season much more enjoyable. Conditioning should
reduce the risk of injury, and their coaches will be pleased
to see them performing well from the start. When the season
starts, remind them that their efforts have put them in a
position to succeed. It will help their confidence on the
field, too!

2007 Fall Ball Comes to a
Close
November 9th, 2007 - Fall Ball has been a
great experience for all the families this year. We
encourage everyone to consider trying it next year. It is a
great opportunity for players to "get to the next level".
Each division increases the competitive level to prepare
players for the upcoming spring season. There is so much to
learn about the game of baseball, and this is a great time
to learn it. It has been great for the parents, too! Give
yourself and your child great memories to look back on!
Shetland
Todd Brown and the parents had a great time introducing
their children to baseball at an early age. They learned the
fundamentals of throwing, catching, and that first base is
on the right side of the field! ;-)
Pinto
Mac Jones, Mike McConnell and the parents continued the
skills learning at this age.
Mustang
Dan Jennings, Mark Dean and Tom Moorehead have been working
with the parents to teach players the finer points of the
game.
Bronco
This year, Danny Bonsell,
Bruce Taylor, Kevin Wrenn, Anthony Ivery and Beau Jacob have
been coaching the two Bronco teams. Tom Moorehead and Dave
Affourtit, the Bronco DR's have done a great job of
preparing Burnett Field for the fall games. A big thanks
goes to Tom Moorehead, for arranging our participation in
the Blossom Valley Fall League.

Pony
Vic Rousseau and Stan Styczynski have had the Pony
team going head-to-head each week with Blossom Valley's Pony
team. Both teams get valuable playing experience getting
after each other every week!
MH Shetland Teams Play at MLB
Fan Fest!
July 7th: PONY baseball selected
Morgan Hill to send two Shetland teams to play an Exhibition
game at the MLB All Star FanFest 2007 in San Francisco.
The boys did a great job representing PONY baseball and
showing their sportsmanship and enthusiasm to FanFest.
A big thanks from all at MHPB to
Mike O'Connell for putting the teams, uniforms and logistics
together to make this a big success!
Also a thanks to Gregg Hall for
